Do you think society puts too much pressure on people to be in relationships and/or have children? Do you think this ostracizes people who would be perfectly content to remain single and/or child-free? Is this pressure worse around the holidays?

Dear god yes. My own father was unhappy that I'd elected to have my tubes tied, and women routinely have to fight with doctors to be allowed to do so because 'they may regret it and it's not easily (if at all) reversible." well, neither is HAVING A KID. But doctors don't argue with women about that (barring a case where it would jeopardise a woman's health or life).

In addition, friends who play matchmaker, or make comments about 'settling down' indicate the societal tendency toward coupledom. Really, I'm 30, and quite 'settled' despite being single, thanks. Thankfully, my friends get my viewpoint on that (usually).

So... They don't have an Arabic minor (something useful, really), but they have Russian and Portuguese... (as well as French, Spanish, and Italian). No German either.

Okay, SO! Change of plans. No more Oklahoma. Maybe someday. But I simply can't handle the math and science right now. So I'm switching over to psych, and going to UAlbany.
